Beach Breaks

A Beach break is a surf zone where the waves break over a sand bottom. Typically, beach breaks are safer for beginners and less sketchy because of the relatively "soft" bottom that sand provides. Beach break waves can be very fickle, and can get good depending on the sand bars of the particular area. Another benefit of a beach break is the ability for surfers to spread out over a broad stretch of beach where waves will peak up in different places. San Diego, like many places in the world, has a variety of beach breaks and these breaks are dispersed along the coast between various other reef and point breaks.
